Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for oil and gas drilling equipment maintenance
- Access, interpret and apply service and maintenance documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- Identify, address and report potential hazards, risks and environmental issues and implement control measures
- Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for the work activity
- Obtain and interpret emergency procedures and be ready for fire/accident/emergency
- Resolve coordination requirements with others prior to commencing and during work activities
- Check new and used equipment
- Test materials and equipment regularly
- Monitor availability of new and used equipment
- Evaluate costs/benefits of replacing equipment, and recommend/implement the purchase/lease of replacement equipment
- Check stock levels and order spare parts and consumables
- Maintain communication between operators, company and suppliers
- Check manufacturer’s manuals/company procedures for currency and relevancy
- Organise maintenance and overhauls
- Determine type and frequency of maintenance tasks
- Organise equipment maintenance and service to ensure availability is maintained and downtime minimised
- Monitor performance of maintenance schedules and take corrective action if necessary
- Arrange sources for obtaining back up or replacement equipment
- Allocate personnel to carry out maintenance tasks
